Answer by Dr Rowena S, MD (doctor) on Thu 12, Nov 2009 05:09pm:

Hi, If you have been taking your birth control pills in the past, it is important that you take them daily and regularly for it to be effective. If this is your first time to take it, you should first talk to your doctor so that you can be evaluated. Not all people can take the pill especially for those who have underlying medical conditions. Your medical history and physical or pelvic examination are important. Other birth control methods such as barrier and rhythm method may be considered for now. Take care and best regards.
