Hello,
Depo-Provera is a long-acting progestin (hormone) form of birth control. If you stop getting Depo-Provera
injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months but sometimes it may take 12-18 mths to become
regular. So depo shots can be a cause of your delayed periods.
Other causes may include pregnancy, hormonal imbalance, increased stress, eating disorder, increased
smoking, alcohol or caffeine use,PCOS,fibroid, polyps and endometriosis.
One thing that I would like to tell you is that home pregnancy tests detect the presence of the hormone HCG(a
glycoprotein hormone secreted by the developing placenta shortly after fertilization. ) in a woman's
urine. This enters your blood as early as one week following fertilisation. You can do home urine for pregnancy
test after 1 week of your due periods date. However false negative results can be there and so confirmation of
pregnancy is done by ultrasonography or serum beta HCG.
I sincerely advise you to consult a gynecologist and get an serum HCG and ultrasound uterus done. Not only will
it clearify the status of your pregnancy, but it will rule out other causes which I have mentioned above.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.
