I have not seen my period since December. I took a pregnancy test and it came up negative. It's now April and I still haven't had my period. It's been 4 months now and I'm not showing any signs of pregnancy. I'm 26 yrs. old. My last child was born in January and things were fine. It was on time and on for 4 to 5 days. All of a sudden it stops in December and haven't seen it since. Why aren't my cycles coming? Can I still get pregnant now without a period? What's going on with my body? Can it be stress? I always had irregular periods. I was prescribed birth control pills to regulate me. How can I gain a few pounds or how do I build up my metabolism to build my appetite?

Hi. Having missed periods after menarche [onset of menstruation in a female] is known as secondary amenorrhoea. The common causes of secondary amenorrhea are excessive weight loss or gain, excessive exercise, stress, chronic illnesses, medications like oral contraceptive pills, hormonal imbalances, disorders of the ovary or uterus and pregnancy.
