Having general enasthetic within the first 6 weeks of being pregnant.

	I have just found out i am approximately 6 weeks pregnant but 4 weeks ago i had breast surgery and was put to sleep under general anasthetic and then put on antibiotics. I was unaware i was pregnant and i am now worried that i could of harmed my baby. Is there any evidence of this happening before?

	Answer by Dr. Pankaj Khater (doctor) on Tue 10, Nov 2009 06:19am: Hi, Within 6 weeks, the implantation of fetus has just taken place and organ formation hasn’t yet begun. There should have been no harm. Triple screen at 15 weeks and level 2 ultrasound at 20 weeks will show any fetal abnormality if there. Good luck! Hope this helps you.
