Heavy bleeding (one time only) after 4 days delay in menstrual

	Hi! My Last menstrual period was on 7th Sep. I started the feeling of having menstrual on 7th Oct but actually it was not. It was overdue by 3-4 days. I had pregnancy test but the report was negative. Yesterday it started heavily bleeding. But it was for single time only. Is it the symptoms of pregnancy?

	Answer by Dr Paul S, MD (doctor) on Fri 10, Oct 2008 06:10am: Hi there. If you have tested negative for pregnancy 2 days ago then it is rather unlikely that pregnancy is the cause of this bleeding. I believe that this is just a delayed and an unusual manifestation of your monthly menstrual cycle. However, there is this situation called 'implantation bleeding' where you experience vaginal bleeding upon implantation of the embryo to the linings of the uterus. However, this bleeding tend to be minimal and mild. It is still recommended that you have this evaluated by your gynecologist just to be sure there's nothing else wrong. Regards and God bless.
