I am a 62 year old woman with 2 daughters (36yrs & 33yrs). We each suffer from "Irritable Bowel Syndrome"
which I know is not "life threatening" - but it sure is life altering! Immodium is a regular part of my diet and
when I am traveling (which I do frequently for work)I dare not go anywhere without it. When I research IBS, I note that
often constipation is also a factor. However, for the three of us, this is NEVER a concern. We all get constant - and often
uncontrollable diarrhea. My younger daughter has recently had three awful "accidents" in one week. Have there
been any advances in the treatment of IBS? And, to be honest, I'm wondering what other conditions (other than IBS)
manifest themselves ONLY as daily acute diarrhea? What other conditions do you suggest we're tested for? Living like
this is a nightmare. An odd phenomenon with my elder daughter (who thought her diarrhea might be caused by a gluten &
lactose allergy since avoiding those foods helped somewhat), is that while she was pregnant - and for 1 year afterwards she
had no symptoms whatsoever. Now the baby is 15 months old and the situation is as bad as ever. Is there any correlation? Are
there "usual culprits" diet wise that we should avoid in trying to determine a cause (carbonated drinks, milk, gum,
fruits, alcohol, dairy, wheat, etc?). We will be so grateful for any guidance you can offer.I
