I am worried that i may have cancer of the womb

About four months ago i started having very heavy periods and pain, My doctor took blood test and told me that my LFT was slightly high and sent me to see a doctor at the hospital how said my liver was fine and there was nothing to worry about. In this time my health has become worse, i still have pain in the lower part of my tummy, i feel sick all the time, my legs and hips are painful, i get hot sweats at night and feel so tierd all the time which is very unlike me, I went back to the doctor who gave me an interal and said i had a polyp on my cerviz, she also found that the top of my womb was larger than normal and very tender. Could this be related to the polyp? she has requested that a scan be done and that i be refurred to another doctor at the hospital and i am now very wooried.

Answer by Dr Veena, MD (doctor) on Mon 16, Mar 2009 07:25am:

It is difficult to say what might be causing heavy periods in your case, but most probable causes could be bleeding polyp in the cervix, perimenopause, fibroids in the uterus and tumors. It can only be confirmed by ultrasound, endometrial sampling and hysteroscopy, depending upon the findings of these investigations further evaluation can be considered. Discuss with your doctor and follow his advise.
