I had a full hysterectomy three weeks ago (removal of cervix, womb, uteris and overies) I am not experiencing period like symptoms with a pale brown discharge and the need to wear a sanitary towel. My GP is treating me for an infection but could there be more to it.

Answer by Dr Rowena S, MD (doctor) on Fri 12, Jun 2009 07:58pm:

HI, It is normal to have spotting or discharge upto 6 weeks after the operation. If it persists or other symptoms arise, have this evaluated further by your gynecologist for proper management. Take care and best regards.
