There are some important points that you have mentioned in your case: pale yellow discharge, no associated
itching or burning, prolonged menses, irregular menses, negative pregnancy tests and tests to determine the
presence of infections which I would assume showed negative results.
At this point, I will be more concerned with the prolonged menstrual bleed rather than the yellowish discharge
which is your primary complaint. In your case, it is necessary to note when this (prolonged menses) condition
started and if other members of your family also have this condition. Bleeding disorders such as platelet
disorders, kidney and liver disease conditions may present as prolonged bleeding (eg nose bleed and gum bleed)
including that of prolonged menses. I would suggest that a complete blood count with platelet count be done.
Prothrombin (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin (aPTT) levels may also be determined to rule out
coagulation disorders. Liver and kidney function tests may be done and thyroid hormone levels may be assessed.
The yellowish discharge may be normal vaginal discharge associated with hormonal changes in the body. This
does not sound infectious in the absence of itching, burning and a foul smelling discharge.
Was a pelvic examination and transvaginal scan done already?
