Hi,
Thank you for posting your question. Pregnancy tests measure the amount of the pregnancy hormone: human
chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). There are two kinds of tests that are used: the home pregnancy tests, which are
urine tests, and the more accurate blood test. Some home pregnancy tests are more sensitive than others in
detecting low levels of hCG a few days before your period is due.
Almost all urine pregnancy tests will give you accurate results if you test at around the time your period
would normally be due or about two weeks after you ovulate. This is why it is important that you should know
if you have regular menstrual cycle or not.
The blood test for pregnancy measures the amount of hCG in your bloodstream and can measure much smaller
amounts of the hormone. It
can detect pregnancy earlier than urine tests, usually about six to eight days after ovulation. It would be
best to have this evaluated by your doctor. Take care and regards.
