Hi! Thanks for the question on the forum and a warm welcome on board! The two drugs which you either took or
are taking (Triphasil and Minulet/Minulette) are both contraceptive pills and both inhibit ovulation (
http://www.racgp.org.au/cmi/wycminul.pdf). Hence I am not
sure why you are being put on this. If after stopping Triphasil, you did not het periods, then you have post
pill amenorrhea where periods stop because of suppression of pituitary gland in the brain by the contraceptive
pills or depot shots. So this is the first thing that has to be ruled out. In most cases periods return on
their own within 6 months after post pill amenorrhea. If you are having periods then what is important is to
find out whether you are ovulating or not. In this case a complete hormone panel including FSH, LH, prolactin,
androgen hormones or male hormones and estrogen hormones and thyroid hormones will have to be done and
repeated ultrasounds done to monitor the formation of ovum. After appropriate tests drugs like clomiphene or
progesterone, as the need may be, will have to be started to stimulate the pituitary to release FSH and LH.
Please do not start any drugs on your own as without knowing the hormone status in your body, these drugs may
do more harm than good. What I sincerely suggest is that you seek another opinion, preferably from an
infertility specialist as they are more experienced in this kind of treatment. If you cannot find one, consult
another gynecologist and you will probably need to stop these pills. Please let me know if there is any thing
else and do keep me posted. Take care!
