I've had spotting for the last 4 days

	I have had very light spotting for the last 4 days, im due on my period any day now, my last period was 29 days ago. My boyfriend & I have been trying for a baby for the last 14 months with no luck, I done a pregnancy test yesterday but it was negative. What does this spotting mean?

	Answer by Dr Bhupinder K, MD (doctor) on Tue 24, Feb 2009 01:38am: Hello, It is very difficult to say whether this bleeding is due to implantation bleeding or other causes.I would suggest a serum HCG test done to clear any doubts.If there is any pregnancy even an ectopic one then serum HCG levels will be raised.Urine for pregnancy test comes positive after 1 week of missed periods or approx after 3 weeks of conception.So a serum HCG test is a better one.If it comes out negative then other possibilities like stress and anxiety, cholesterol or hormonal imbalance, chain smoking, dramatic changes in your life style,fibroid uterus and PCOS have to be probed.Best..
