	My period just kicked in today and I've noticed an unusual clear film (fairly thick). I've been getting occassional cramps for about 3 weeks leading up to this, should I be concerned?

If you have the same amount and duration of your menstruation and you have no other symptoms present, there is nothing to be worried about. However, if the cramps persists, have this evaluated by your gynecologist for proper management. Complete physical and pelvic examination will help determine the underlying cause. I hope this helps. 	Follow up: Clarification by toblerone on Tue 26, May 2009 03:28pm: The film had some blood going through it, kind of membrane-like to me. My menstruation is normally quite light and very short (2-3 days) I'm on day 4 now a it's still stronger than usual rather than almost gone.
