Mystery Diagnosis

Asked by fitzgeraldfamily05 (Female; 20; 28071; got sick during pregnancy, literally overnight, not pregnant anymore and still sick.; Relevant drugs:metoprolol, ) on Thu 09, Jul 2009 09:10am

I was 6 months pregnant when my face started going numb, then i woke up with worst headache ever. Ever since that day I have had a headache and it has been a little over a year. diff parts of my body go numb and burn. I all of a sudden have tachycardia which is uncomfortable, and any kind of heat bothers me very much and makes everything 10 times worse.i am lightheaded all day everyday. I have had lots of regular blood tests and everything was fine and i have had lots of CT's of brain. I also have enlarged spleen and slightly high scholesterol. I was wondering if maybe you could give me a list of things this could be, or maybe tell me some tests i should have done, because I am only 20 and i'm miserable everyday and i wish when i go to doctors they take me seriously. Thank You!

Hi, You will need work up for the same by a hematologist. There are certain diseases which can present with the complaints you’ve got like iron deficiency anemia, congenital disorders of red blood cells like sickle cell anemia, hereditary spherocytosis. Also hyperthyroidism needs to be ruled with T3, T4 & TSH. The blood tests should help in making a diagnosis. I hope that helps. Take care.
