Negative Pregnancy Test 5 days before period

	I had a urine pregnancy test at a lab 5 days before my period and not using my first morning urine. The results came back negative. Is there a chance that I could still be pregnant? I also had spotting on cycle day 22...I have a very regular 28 day cycle.

	Answer by Dr Rowena S, MD (doctor) on Mon 09, Mar 2009 06:13pm: Spotting may be associated with hormonal fluctuations, stress, infections, or possible pregnancy. If you have regular periods, the chances of getting pregnant is high if intercourse was during the ovulation period, which is around the 14th day of the cycle.
