I went to my doctors for my 6 week check up after having my first baby. Well after getting the pap smear they called me back about a week and a half later saying everything went fine except one thing that is common in first pregnancies. I can't remember what it was called but its some kind of discharge. It was like vagi..well thats the only like half of the name i cant remember the rest. I was wondering if its actually normal or if it should be treated. Its like a brownish yellow discharge or something close to that. And i was wondering if you knew the name of it since i cant remember.

Answer by Dr. Rajgopal, MBBS (doctor) on Sat 16, May 2009 10:42pm:

Hi, PAP smear is mostly done to detect cervical cancer. Smear is taken from the vagina . As you had a discharge , the tests was done. The condition name could have been vaginal candidiasis , vaginal bacterial infection, vulvovaginitis that means some infection in the vagina. Please consult the doctor to know the exact diagnosis. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !
