Pregnancy, should i take the morning after pill after starting my period??

	my boyfriend and i had unprotected sex last night and he came in me, but today i started my period, should i still take the morning after pill?

	Answer by Dr Smitha M, MD (doctor) on Sun 31, Aug 2008 09:08pm: Hi, There is no need to take the morning-after pill as there is no chance of a pregnancy. The uterus is shedding its lining during the period and there is no chance of an implantation of fertilized egg. Additionally, women with regular menstrual cycles tend to ovulate between the 12th to 18th days of their cycle and can conceive in that period only. It is usually safe to have unprotected intercourse in the first 10 days of starting your period and the last 10 days of the cycle. Do note that you will still need to insist on condom usage if you want protection from STDs. Do keep us posted on any further doubts in this regard.
