Problems after Depo Provera and Pregnancy Symptoms but Negative Result

	I had my last shot of depo provera in Sept 08, i had some Light bleeding on Saturday night and thought this was the return of my periods. It has since stopped. My breasts and nipples have been very sore and sensitive. I also have upper back pain. I have had some light cramping in my stomach and feel very very bloated, since last night have had a few waves of sickness. I took a pregnancy test last night which was negative. Not sure what is going on ?

	Answer by Dr Rowena S, MD (doctor) on Wed 01, Apr 2009 02:59am: Contraceptives that are injected or implanted, such as Depo-Provera, also may cause absence of menstruation or amenorrhea. For some, it may take three to six months to resume regular ovulation and menstruation. This could also be due to your hormonal imbalance or stress. At this point you could test for another pregnancy test after a few days or if it persists, have this evaluated further by your gynecologist for proper management. A complete physical and pelvic examination are important to determine the underlying cause.
