Ultrasound report

	I'm having trouble logging in and i'm more confused after the other doctor answered my question saying that since i had irregular bleeding after the Postinor 2 its hard to rule out the LMP,the subject was confused. My main concern is that i hope i didn't get pregnant after taking P2 barely one hour after the condom broke and bled for 3days ie25-27th July. I had unprotected sex on 1st August and when i went for the ultrasound on 22nd September 2010,the report said: The CRL of the fetus is 20mm corresponding to maturity of 8wks 4days. The uterus is enlarged in size and contains a single gestation sac. Within the sac,there's a yolk sac and a foetal pole. It shows normal cardiac rate of 171/min. The cervix is closed. Both ovaries are normal. I'm just wondering since i had periods on 11th July and if the act of 24th July resulted in pregnancy when i went for the ultrasound the GA would've have been 10weeks right? But since Dr.Shipra you said after taking the P2 and bled its 99% that i didn't become pregnant on the act of 24th July rather the pregnancy resulted by the act of 1st August and thats why the ultrasound shows 8weeks 4days. Pls help.

	Answer by Dr J Singh (doctor) on Thu 03, Mar 2011 09:12pm: Hello, An ultrasound report is more reliable for calculating the gestational period but not in the early weeks. It is true that you had your last menstrual period on 11th July and unprotected sex twice( on 24th july and 1st august). Now if we go by LMP, then your gestational age would have been 10 weeks 4 days but see pregnancy occurs around ovulation( 24th july was day 14) and since you had bled for 3 days after taking the emergency contraceptive pill, so it is less likely that the act of 24th july resulted in pregnancy. The sexual act of 1st August was an unprotected one and hence could have resulted in pregnancy. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
