Thanks so much for your quick reply - I have been so worried. Just to clarify it doesn't admit a finger,
I can just put the very end of my finger in the opening -it wouldn't go any further unless I were to
force it - which obviously I won't. Does this situation hold the same risks? Thanks

Hi! Just look at the picture of the cervix in the link I sent. What you could be feeling is the lips of cervix
with a depression in the center. This is what you must be feeling with the finger tip. In such a case, there
is no cervical insufficiency but a normal finding. Also if a gynecologist examined you, then the chances of
insufficiency are less. The feel of cervix as I said earlier is normal. Some deep seated vaginal pain is at
times felt in pregnancy. You can mention this to your gynecologist when you next see her. Hope this puts your
mind at ease. Since I have not examined you, I would be more comfortable if you bring your concerns to the
notice of your gynecologist too—regarding the tip of finger somewhat going in even though I feel the tip is
going into the depression formed by the lips. Take care!
