adenomyosis

Asked by misterious (Female; 27; cronic pelvic pain; Relevant drugs:lyrica and strong pain killers ) on Wed 06, May 2009 02:46pm

I have had cronic pelvic pain for 5 years. I never had any problems before the births of my children! I have different treatments from mri to biopsys but everything came back normal. My gp and my old consultant said they were more than certain it is adenomyosis, now however my new consultant said he is not sure what it is and will under no condition will preform a hysterectomy because of my age even though i am at my wits end with pain. I am finding it very hard to go about everyday life and try to cope with my children. It is becoming an issue in my marriage. I feel like i keep getting fobbed off and just want my life back with pain free. I am not at all happy with my new consultant as felt he didnt have enough experience. Please what can i do? all my symptoms point to adenomyosis.

Answer by Dr Rowena S, MD (doctor) on Wed 06, May 2009 03:58pm:

Hi, If your MRI and other tests are normal, further evaluation needs to be done. You can have another opinion from another gynecologist if you want other options. Aside from NSAIDS & hormonal suppression, pain management such as alternative medicine may also help. Talk to your doctor about this for proper management.
