can i still be pregnant?

	my period is 2 wks late...my last period was nov.13...my periods are always regular..i wouldve gotten pregnant 2wks ago...my blood test came back negative...ive been on the iud for 7months...i am having pregnancy symptoms like i did with my son...can i still be pregnant?...should i test again in a few days?

	Answer by Dr.Bhumika Aggarwal (doctor) on Sat 27, Dec 2008 07:02am: Hi, You could take a urine pregnancy test at home with one of the kits that can be purchased at the local pharmacy. The timing of the test is importantfor it to be accurate - it should be done AFTER a missed period - from what you say, i gather that you have done before your menstrual cycle begins. 'False negative readings can occur when testing is done too early. Quantitative blood tests and the most sensitive urine tests usually detect hCG shortly after implantation, which can occur anywhere from 6 to 12 days after ovulation. It would be advisable to consult your doctor about the symptoms you are having to rule out any other cause, wait for your menstrual cycle - and in case you have a missed period - get a repeat urine as well asblood pregnancy test done.
