dark brown period....

	i have had my periods 8 days now, but its a dark brown color, and its quite light..... is this normal or is there something wrong? last month i had my period 3 times?? I am now on cyclo-progynova?? i am 20 years old by the way....and married?

	Answer by Dr Madhulika Mohanty (doctor) on Tue 07, Sep 2010 06:38am: Dear Sakkii 123 brown discharge can be due to ovarian problems ,hormonal imbalance, stress, anxiety, excessive exercise, crashed dieting, use of birth control pills, change in environment, scar in uterus and in pregnancy due to implantation bleed, threatened abortion etc. You should get a urine test for pregnancy, to rule out pregnancy.Frequent menses can occur due to pelvic inflammatory disease, sexually transmitted disease, endometriosis, cervical polyp,fibroid, hormones, stress, exercise etc.Get in touch with a Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for further assistance.
