enlarged utrus

	Asked by Unregistered (Female; 36; 16482; i am healthy for the most part. in the last couple years things have gotten bad. I have had 3 paps come back abnormal and had two coloscopes and one leap. i had a 4th pap yesterday. after the leap my periods have become heavy longer and very painful. she did exam and found that i had a enlarges utrus and has ordered an ultra sound. i had my tubes tied 13 and half years ago. two births ; Relevant drugs:iam not on any medication right now ) on Tue 03, Mar 2009 01:21pm
	can a enlarged utrus because caused by a pregnancy or a tubal pregnancy? if was pregnant either way could it be possible to still have periods?

	Answer by Dr Bhupinder K, MD (doctor) on Tue 03, Mar 2009 09:36pm: Hello, The common causes of enlarged uterus and abnormal menstrual cycles are fibroids,adenomyosis,polyps,endometrial stromal sarcma,tumors,H.mole and malignancy.It is only after ultrasound that the picture will be cleared.Pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy can also cause enlarged uterus.But if pregnancy occurs,cessation of menses occurs.Hope it helps.
