	hi doctor, i am 6 weeks pregnant now, but i am somewhat bothered, me and my fiance had been waiting for this baby, but i am now not sure if the baby im carrying now is his. I had my last menstruation started on the 17th of the july and ended on the 20th or the 21st im not that sure. Anyhow, one unfortunate night i made love with my ex, well, you know we both got drunk and the rest is history, it happened on the 27th of july. Doctor, what are the chances that my ex got me pregnant? Im considering the 10 days befor and 10 days after safety method, and i am so afraid that on the 27th it happens to be the 11th day so its likely out of the safe says.. Please advice doc.. Thank you so much. i really worry so much,i feel guilty. my fiance was so excited to know that finally he got me pregnant, but im not just sure how to react because im still unsure if im carrying his baby. 	Answer by Dr Atma Gauraha (doctor) on Tue 08, Mar 2011 03:29pm: Hi, Usually 8th to 21st day of a normal menstrual cycle are considered to be fertile period and chances of being pregnant increases during this period. However a woman can be pregnant throughout 30 days in a month according to new studies. Ovulation occurs around 14-16 days of cycle and ovum dies after 24 hours but the sperm can remain active inside up to 3-4 days. Unprotected sex between 8-21 days can result in pregnancy as the date of ovulation is not certain. You can confirm father of baby by a DNA test. Hope this helps you. Take care.
