	i have a nail fungi infection 3 months ago i have taken both nizoral(ketokonazole and lamisil for about 2 months seperately but no improvemrnt. my nail bed was swollen while on drug it stop swelling but nail were peeling now one nail bed has started swelling again. please what treatment may i use to cure this urgently as i seriously am intending to be pregnant. if pregnant can i continue with drugs or what cream can i use during pregnancy

	Answer by Dr. Namita Shrivastava (doctor) on Tue 11, Aug 2009 09:36am: Hi, Fungal infections of nail usually take longer treatment ,which may vary from 2-6 months. The medicines available are itraconazole, ketoconazole, l amisil which need to be taken orally as well as topical creams. Such creams when used alone are not very useful in the treatment of nail infections. Sometimes in resistant cases the entire nail would need to be removed. The anti-fungal medicines are contraindicated in pregnancy. The treatment of fungal infection of nails could be kept suspended till delivery in pregnant women.
