	last month i got urine infection, my body was resistant to most of the drugs so i had to take the AMIKACINE Injections for 7 days, 500mg/day. we are not using any contraceptives, and trying to concieve. My last period was on 28th of JUNE. I missed my period and tested with Home pregnancy test. but the test was negative. why is this??????

	Answer by Dr. Pankaj Khater (doctor) on Tue 01, Sep 2009 01:45am: Hi lady. Amikacin doesnot affect menses. Well….it is quite possible that the HPT result may be false negative. Repeat the test after a couple of days………you can also undergo HCG assay of blood for confirmation. Consult a gynaec for further evaluation.
