Hi,
With your age and history of 3 caesariann sections and hernia, you are considered high risk already if you
plan to be pregnant again. Women who delivered their first child by caesarean delivery had increased risks for
malpresentation, placenta previa, antepartum hemorrhage, placenta accreta, prolonged labor, uterine rupture,
preterm birth, low birth weight, and stillbirth in their second delivery.
Moreso if you have multiple caesarean sections, where more problems with later pregnancies are encountered. It
is recommended that women who want larger families should not seek caesarean section as an elective. In
particular, the risk of placenta accreta, a potentially life-threatening condition, increases with subsequent
CS. Along with this is a similar rise in the risk of emergency hysterectomies at delivery.
Aside from the hernia recurring, risk of post-operative adhesions, increased pain at the incision, and
prolonged recovery of mobility are also aspects to be considered. Though I highly recommend not to continue
with the pregnancy because of all of the risks presented, it would be best to discuss this with your husband
and your doctor. In the end you will be the one to decide.
Take care and regards.
