Answer by Dr Rowena S, MD (doctor) on Sat 12, Dec 2009 01:01pm:

Hi, How are you? Inverted or hidden clitoris may result from adhesions caused by the hood fusing together or from previous infection. This may also be caused by hormonal changes that you are experiencing in this stage of pre/menopause. The presence of pain and ineffectiveness of manual stimulation may warrant further evaluation by a specialist. A gynecologist is pretty familiar with these things, so do not be embarrassed about this. With pelvic examination, the underlying cause can be determined and the management can be made. Take care and do keep us posted.
