Answer by Dr Madhulika Mohanty (doctor) on Mon 06, Sep 2010 12:06am:

Dear Shafaat the normal menstrual cycle length is 28 days but can vary from 21 days to 35 days and this is considered to be normal. Frequent menses (cycle less than 21 days) can occur due to pelvic inflammatory disease, sexually transmitted disease, endometriosis, cervical polyp, birth control pills, stress, exercise etc .I think she is perfectly ok if she has menses 5 days before as it is considered to be normal, but you can still get in touch with a doctor for further assistance. Take care.
