Hi,
How are you? Thank you for posting your question. Pregnancy tests measure the amount of the pregnancy hormone:
human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). There are two kinds of tests that are used: the home pregnancy tests,
which are urine tests, and the more accurate blood test. Almost all urine pregnancy tests will give you
accurate results if you test at around the time your period would normally be due or about two weeks after you
ovulate. In your case, having an irregular period will be difficult in pinpointing the exact ovulation.
It would be best to have this evaluated by your doctor. A complete medical and pelvic examination may be
helpful and blood test for pregnancy may be done. The test measures the amount of hCG in your bloodstream and
can measure much smaller amounts of the hormone. It can detect pregnancy earlier than urine tests, usually
about six to eight days after ovulation. Stress may sometimes affect our hormones and may manifest symptoms
such as you are experiencing.
Take care and regards.
