Asked by Unregistered (Female; 27; 12694; toxemia 6 years ago and it turned into the HELLP syndrome, had my son 3 months early. Did have high blood pressure that stayed in the 90's till about 6 months ago when I lost some wight. ) on Sat 27, Dec 2008 05:48pm

I'm having a pain around my rib area, I have had this pain before from problems with my pregnancy and was due to high blood pressure. I don't feel like I'm having high blood pressure right now, I'm not showing any other signs like I usually do. I have had this pain all day and its really making me uncomfortable and not sure whats going on and what to do

Hi, Thanks for writing in. You have not mentioned in which part of the rib area so it is a little difficult to give the diagnosis. However there is a possibility that this pain is originating from the heart. I would advise you to get your BP checked and schedule an appointment with your doctor for a complete exam. Pain in the ribs also occurs due to a condition know as costochondritis or rib inflammation. I would suggest you to take OTC NSAIDS like Motrin and see if it helps with your pain. Hope this helps!
