Hi,
Vicodin and naproxin have been known to cause adverse effects in developing fetuses.
Naproxin is an NSAID that has been known to be responsible for causing congenital heart defects in the
developing embryo, especially when used during the first trimester.
Vicodin has hydrocodone, a synthetic opioid agent, in it that has been known to increase and cause birth
defects in the developing fetus. Additionally, vicodin use during pregnancy will result in dependence and the
baby can have severe withdrawal symptoms.
Steroid use in pregnancy has not been studied elaborately in humans, but research data so far has indicated
that it increases the risk of orofacial birth defects while also causing intrauterine growth retardation and
other toxic effects on the fetus.
If you are not pregnant, you can practice safe sex (condoms) in the future so as to avoid a possible
pregnancy. If you are pregnant and do not want to continue with the pregnancy, you can opt for an abortion.
This can be managed with minimal risk in the first 2 months. Contact your ob/gyn for further guidance
regarding medical termination of pregnancy.
regards,
