Asked by pinkassasin (Female; 40; polycystic ovaraies in the past has regualted now (menstrual cycle)rh neg blood group,haitus hernai; Relevant drugs:lazoprazole ) on Wed 06, May 2009 12:57am

i have had 2 misscarraiges and my gp wont investigate till i have my third ,this is standard practice in the uk,ive asked for progesterone as it may help he said no even a gynae wouldnt give it me ,altho lots of people i know have had success with it. im thinking of buying it offline, what dosage should i take if i do buy iy and what advice can you give me .... im 40 years of age,have polycystic ovaries, and rh neg blood group all advice helpful

Hi, This is not the standard practice - progesterone could help but the decision would have to be taken by your doctor. Taking it yourself would not be advisable. Miscarriage can be due to chromosomal disorders in the fetus. Other causes include - trauma to the abdomen, incompetent cervix, pelvic infections, fetal heart defects, placental abruption, etc. You could get pregnant and deliver a baby - though you would have to be extra cautious and follow up with your OBG specialist regularly. It would help to discuss the possible cause of the frequent miscarriage in your case. You would need to get baseline test done to rule out any abnormality. Regards.
