Hello,
First of all at such a young age(16 years) getting pregnant poses a risk not only to the fetus but the mother
as well.If however, you want to get pregnant, first of all try intercourse near ovulation. Ovulation is the
release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly,
around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. This is the most fertile period of your cycle: during
ovulation your chances of conception are highest. So the best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day
10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle.
You can predict ovulation by counting the days as mentioned above, change in cervical mucus(becomes clear,
slippery, and stretchy),rise in basal body temperature(increase by 0.5 to 1.6 degrees),feeling mild achiness
to twinges of pain in the lower abdomen and by ovulation predictor kits which are available in the market.
However if you have irregular periods then you won’t be able to predict ovulation. For that the cause of
irregularity in menstrual cycle has to be identified. Various causes for irregular menstrual cycle are
stress, weight gain or loss, overexercising, smoking, excessive consumption of coffee, hormonal changes, polycystic
ovarian syndrome/estrogen dominance or uterine abnormalities (fibroids/cysts/polyps/endometriosis.The exact
cause can only be identified after a detailed history ,pelvic examination and investigations like blood tests
and ultrasound uterus.
I sincerely advise you to consult a gynecologist as without examination ,confirming a diagnosis is tough
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
