Answer by Dr Bhupinder K, MD (doctor) on Sat 23, May 2009 09:44am:

Hello, Pregnancy occurs only during the time of ovulation. Ovulation is the release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. The best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle. You can confirm your ovulation days by breast tenderness, cramping of the abdomen, increased vaginal discharge and changes in cervical firmness and positioning. Another way to determine if you are ovulating is to measure your basal body temperature(it increases). Hope it helps. Take care and regards.
